Jonathan Shum, DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Jonathan Shum is an associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry. He is also the director for the oral, head, and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery clinical fellowship program.

He is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario (BSc), University of Toronto (DDS), and Weill Cornell Medical College (MD). He completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell in New York City, his fellowship in oral/head and neck oncologic surgery and microvascular reconstructive surgery at Providence Portland Medical Center, and at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr. Shum focuses his clinical and research activities on the management of oral cavity cancers, salivary gland tumors, and microvascular reconstruction of the head, neck, and face. He maintains an active practice that uses facilities within the Texas Medical Center, including Houston Methodist Hospital, Memorial Herman Hospital, and Ben Taub General Hospital. Dr. Shum’s scope of practice also incorporates dentoalveolar surgery, trauma, reconstruction, and C02 laser surgery.
